As technology continues to rapidly advance, so do the ways we spread the Gospel. With over 5.4 billion social media users worldwide, the mission field now includes online platforms where the world, especially the next generation, is constantly connected and searching for truth, identity, and purpose.
Indonesia is one of the most active social media nations in the world, ranking among the top five globally, with more than 143 millions users spending an average of three hours online every day. For our broadcasting field partner in Indonesia (FEBC Indonesia), this represents not just a challenge, but an opportunity to reach a generation in the digital space.
To meet them where they are, FEBC Indonesia’s social media team launched an innovative discipleship and media training program that equips young Christians to use their God-given creativity and passion for His kingdom. Participants are given the opportunity to develop content-ideas, craft Gospel-centred stories, produce and share videos online. These young content creators are learning to use their platforms to proclaim Christ boldly and authentically to their own peers.
Although this is a fairly new initiative, the impact has been remarkable. What initially began as a small local effort has grown into a nationwide movement of digital missionaries. Training sessions have already taken place in Lampun, Samarinda, East Borneo, and more – bringing together passionate young believers who are eager to shine the light of Christ online.
FEBC Indonesia is doing more than sharing the Gospel digitally - they are raising up a new generation of evangelists who are transforming social media from a space of distraction into a powerful platform for faith, hope and the glory of God.
We pray for the young believers in Indonesia who are boldly proclaiming Christ through social media platforms. May God guide their words, protect them, and open hearts to receive the life-changing message of the Gospel. Amen.
