Amos spends much of his time visiting these groups, and training local group leaders and pastors. They and the group members also need a great deal of encouragement, as conversion to Christianity often leads to persecution. It is not uncommon for new believers to be beaten up and have their livestock or land confiscated by local imams and their followers. When too dangerous, new believers often move to another community where there is more protection.
One of the Listener Club leaders, Moses, was beaten up badly by several people ordered by the local imam; he bled severely in various places, and because of such danger his father advised him to leave his town. But Moses held a conviction in his heart that he should share his newfound faith with his hometown. Despite losing much of his belongings, he persisted and started a Listener Club in an enclosed yard behind his house. The Lord blessed his obedience, and today his group has about 45 people; all have become Christians.

We pray for Amos and his team; that they may continue to produce life-changing programs on FM radio and social media. As the ministry expands to Yao people in neighbouring Tanzania, Zambia and Mozambique, we pray for guidance and protection. Lord, protect Moses, your servant who in the face of life-threatening danger continues to do your work. Lord, place your favour over your followers who have risked their lives to follow you. Amen.
